Good Relations

In her sculptures, Eva Rothschild revaluates traditional ritual or cultural symbols. She is interested in the modes of looking that are emerged by faith and in how images or objects are imbued with significance above and beyond their materiality, and she imbues her objects with extrinsic properties and powers. Her works also reveals a subversive streak and is an expanded, pop version of conceptualism, full of inversions and oppositions. Rothschild makes conceptual art with objects already loaded with concepts – art that question both what we perceive and the way we perceive it.
